Job summary

Generator Supercenter, Inc. is seeking a Whole Home Generator Installer Apprentice in Pittsburgh. This full-time role focuses on supporting the installation and service of residential standby generator systems, mainly Generac equipment and Gen Mon monitoring integration.

It offers hands-on training, mentorship, and field experience. The position provides a path to becoming a generator installer or service technician through on-the-job training and certifications, with industry-leading support

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude; electrical knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead technicians with installation of Generac whole-home standby generators, including site prep, placement, wiring and connections.
• Prepare job sites by gathering tools, materials, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment.
• Support basic electrical and mechanical tasks under supervision.
• Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of generator systems.
• Follow all safety procedures, codes and regulations.

Position Overview

The Whole-Home Generator Installer Apprentice at Generator Supercenter of Pittsburgh plays a key role in supporting the installation and service of residential standby generator systems, primarily focusing on Generac equipment and Gen Mon monitoring integration. This position is designed for individuals eager to build a career in the power generation industry through hands-on training, mentorship, and real-world field experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead technicians with the installation of Generac whole-home standby generators, including site preparation, placement, wiring and connections.
• Help prepare job sites by gathering tools, materials, and ensuring a clean, safe work environment
• Support basic electrical and mechanical tasks under supervision
• Assist with routine maintenance and troubleshooting of generator systems
• Follow all company safety procedures, codes and regulations
• Maintain tools, equipment and company vehicles
• Communicate professionally with team members and customers on-site

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Strong willingness to learn and work in a hands‑on environment
• Basic mechanical aptitude; electrical knowledge is a plus
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely
• Good Communication and teamwork skills
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in various conditions
• Capable of standing, bending and kneeling for extended periods
