Job Description

Assists the Team Leader in all aspects of daily operations including profitability, expense control, buying, merchandising, labor, regulatory compliance, and special projects as assigned. Leads and develops Team Members. Ensures a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times. Performs duties in accordance with store SOPs and supports WFM core values, goals, and compliance with health and safety regulations, including Food Safety.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Develops and maintains creative store layout and product merchandising.
  2. Works with Team Leader to achieve sales, purchasing, and labor targets.
  3. Assists in sales, reports, and labor analysis.
  4. Supports annual sales, expense projections, and budget prep.
  5. Assists with ordering and inventory management.
  6. Resolves team concerns or issues with the Team Leader.
  7. Acts as point person in absence of Team Leader.
  8. Ensures high standards of retail execution.
  9. Fosters a positive environment promoting teamwork and morale.
  10. Monitors customer flows and needs, directing Team Members accordingly.
  11. Trains, mentors, motivates, and counsels Team Members to maintain high performance and low turnover.
  12. Maintains safety and security standards.
  13. Provides performance evaluations.
  14. Models WFM vision and goals.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Stand/walk 6-8 hours, sit 1-4 hours during an 8-hour shift.
  • Use of hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, reaching.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and temperature variations.
  • Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use of tools and heavy machinery; may require ladder use.
