Job summary

Guest Services Inc. seeks a Drystack Manager to oversee grounds maintenance and travel lift operations at the marina. You will lead, train, and develop staff, manage schedules, and ensure safety, quality, and guest satisfaction across departments.

You will coordinate hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development, review payroll, and contribute to budgeting and long-term improvements. This role demands strong leadership and hands-on supervision in an outdoor, dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 3 years of combined supervisory experience in grounds maintenance and/or lift operations.
• Proficiency operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment (mowers, skid loaders, plow trucks, snow blowers, shovels, salt spreaders, irrigation).
• Understanding of mowing, pruning, planting, and landscape maintenance techniques.
• Ability to travel between marina locations.
• Valid driver's license; Class A CDL preferred.
• Reading and writing work-related English documents.
• Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Clear speech and written English for guest and coworker communication.
• Strong task prioritization and time management to meet seasonal demands.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily pre-shift meetings; provide on-the-job coaching for Travel Lift Operators.
• Maintain attendance, incidents, and operation metrics records.
• Maintain training checklists, attendance logs, and incident reports.
• Communicate operations issues, staffing needs and safety concerns promptly.
• Assist with unit budget prep and capital expenditure planning.
• Foster a positive team environment and guest service culture across departments.
• Attend onsite and offsite meetings, trainings, and conferences as assigned.

Job Summary: The Drystack Manager oversees and coordinates all grounds maintenance and lift operations activities for the marina, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality guest experiences. This position manages, trains, and develops the Grounds Maintenance and Travel Lift Operations employees, maintains departmental records, creates schedules, and enforces compliance with all policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Directly manage grounds maintenance and travel lift operations staff.
• Coach, mentor, evaluate performance, and conduct disciplinary action in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources.
• Coordinate hiring, onboarding, training and ongoing employee development for employees.
• Develop staff plans and schedules to meet operational needs.
• Review and approve payroll for all supervised staff on a bi-weekly basis.
• Plan and direct summer landscaping activities across the marina, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with visual and operational standards.
• Ensure proper winter operations: supervise snow removal using plow trucks, skid loaders, snow blowers, and manual methods; verity timely completion and proper logging of all snow removal activities.
• Inspect and maintain safe walking surfaces during winter, coordination salt application and surface treatments.
• Oversee event cleanup and grounds restoration, including waste collection and recycling.
• Plan and supervise travel lift operations.
• Lead daily pre-shift meetings, reinforce training topics, and conduct ongoing on-the-job coaching for Travel Lift Operators.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and operation metrics.
• Maintain complete departmental records including training checklists, attendance logs and incident reports.
• Communicate operations issues, staffing needs and safety concerns promptly.
• Assist with unit budget preparation and capital expenditure planning, providing input on operational needs and long-term improvements.
• Foster a positive team environment and exemplary guest service culture across both departments.
• Attend relevant onsite and offsite meetings, trainings, and conferences, as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND KNOWEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

• High school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Minimum of 3 years of combined supervisory experience in grounds maintenance and/or lift operations, with demonstrated ability to lead staff.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, skid loaders, plow trucks, snow blowers, shovels, salt spreaders and irrigation systems.
• Understanding of mowing, string trimming, pruning, planting, and general landscape maintenance techniques.
• Ability to travel between locations of the marinas.
• Valid driver’s license required, Class A commercial driver’s license, preferred.
• Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
• Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and coworkers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by guests and coworkers in English.
• Skill in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet seasonal and daily maintenance demands.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the unit.
• Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
• Lifting, carrying and pushing up to twenty-five (25) pound regularly, thirty (30) to fifty (50) pounds frequently, and up to seventy-five (75) pounds occasionally.
• Adequate vision to inspect grounds, operation equipment and detect safety hazards.
• Ability to engage in a wide variety of physical activities including walking, and working on various terrain types, including uneven, slippery surfaces, grass, gravel and snow.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
• Ability to operate and handle various tools, machinery, and equipment with precision.
• Ability to performing repetitive tasks such as mowing, trimming, shoveling, and raking for extended periods.
• Must be able to work extended hours outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
• Ability to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.
• Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.
