Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a Whey Operator in Newman, California to own and monitor production equipment, run key process lines, and maintain daily sanitation and documentation. Responsibilities

  • Run RO, Separator, Whey UF, and Polisher equipment and monitor performance.
  • Own the equipment, prevent out-of-spec product and unnecessary labor.
  • Pull liquid samples and adjust operation parameters based on analysis.
  • Test milk products for acidity, pH, solids, and related quality metrics.
  • Maintain filtration equipment, silo areas, and CIP processes.
  • Load-out trucks and complete daily sanitation schedules.

Job Responsibilities
  • Running the RO, Separator, Whey UF, Polisher.
  • As a Whey Operator, you must "own" your equipment.
  • You will effectively monitor all of the equipment you are responsible for, thus preventing product and / or monetary loss, out of spec product, and the use of unnecessary labor.
  • Communication with the operator you are relieving to gain knowledge of the present status of the equipment and production run.
  • Review previous shift paperwork and follow the set production schedules closely.
  • Communicate with all departmental operators to efficiently manage silo space and production schedules.
  • Any issues should be reported to a shift lead, supervisor, or manager in a timely manner.
  • Pull liquid samples and use analysis for adjusting operation parameters.
  • Grade and test milk products supplying and discharging from filtration equipment.
  • Run quality tests on products, such as acidity, PH and total solids, and determines PDB's, moistures, DIP titrations, etc.
  • Monitor, plan and track all incoming product for upcoming production runs.
  • Check all silo temperatures and solids; document this information on the RO/UF Daily Production Report.
  • Trace Product lines and track the locations of all products being transferred.
  • Maintain the filtration equipment assuring that all product specifications meet specified parameters.
  • Maintain proper documentation for production runs and CIP's.
  • Monitor the filtration equipment and silo areas for leaking gaskets, airlines, pump seals and any other operation deficiencies and report immediately to a lead, supervisor, manager, or to maintenance personnel.
  • Operate CIP systems.
  • Maintain clean silos, lines, and documentation.
  • Able to change membranes when directed.
  • Responsible for the load out of trucks and the CIP of the trucks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized area.
  • Maintain daily sanitation schedule.
  • Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for food safety and food quality.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Wage Rate: $26.55
