Job summary

Parker Towing Company is seeking a Wheelhouse operator for the Mobile Fleet in Mobile, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe operation of inland towing vessels, including navigating the waterways and performing routine maintenance.

Qualifications include a valid Master of Towing Vessels (MOTV), T.W.I.C., and the ability to maintain safety protocols. Applicants must reside within a commutable distance from Mobile and pass the necessary physical and drug screenings.

• Must complete a pre-employment USCG physical exam and DOT Drug and Alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate and navigate inland towing vessels.
• Build tow and shift barges safely.
• Oversee crew safety and compliance.
• Communicate vessel performance data effectively.
• Perform routine maintenance on assigned vessels.

Position: Wheelhouse - Mobile Fleet

Reporting To: Port Captain

Location: Mobile, Alabama

Schedule: 14/7

Responsibilities:

• Safely and efficiently operate and navigate inland towing vessels in the greater Mobile, Alabama area.
• Shift barges and build tow in a safe manner.
• Oversee the safety of all crew members.
• Accurately and continuously communicating with management and office personnel relative to vessel performance, locations, ETAs, weather conditions, and other information specific to the vessel, route, and crew.
• Maintaining compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Parker Towing policies, and procedures.
• Performing and maintaining routine maintenance of his or her assigned vessel and barge(s), which may include maintenance of engines, generators, winches, navigation systems, and safety equipment.
• Communicating in a clear, effective, and professional manner.
• Timely completion of all required reports and logs.

Qualifications:

• A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.
• Candidates must live within a commutable distance of Mobile, Alabama.
• A valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (T.W.I.C.) is required.
• Must possess a valid Master of Towing Vessels (MOTV) of 100 tons or greater.
• A valid Radar Endorsement and FCC license are required.
• Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
• Must complete a pre-employment USCG physical exam and DOT Drug and Alcohol screen.
