Job summary

Humboldt Senior Resource Center in Eureka, CA is seeking a Driver to support participants on a per-diem basis. You will transport participants safely using agency buses or vans and assist with boarding, seating, and wheelchair access.

This role emphasizes careful driving, vehicle safety, and reliable completion of pre/post-trip logs, with training on safety policies and the chance to mentor interns and volunteers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• One (1) year of experience working in a transportation discipline is required.
• One (1) year of experience working with a frail or elderly population is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates transportation vehicles, including wheelchair accessible vans, to transport participants to homes, programs, and appointments.
• Assists participants in/out of vehicles and wheelchairs, ensuring safety and proper positioning.
• Lifts wheelchairs, secures devices, and maintains orderly vehicle storage.
• Prepares and submits daily route reports and pre/post-trip documentation.
• Reports accidents, incidents, and safety concerns to the Transportation Manager.
• Performs routine vehicle maintenance checks and uses routing software for directions and logs.
