Responsibilities

  • Provide client navigation and wraparound support for young parents and co-enrolled participants.

  • Create and maintain employment opportunities and link to skills development resources.
  • Complete required paperwork, data entry, and case records with timely updates.
  • Maintain weekly participant files and prepare monthly reports.
  • Coordinate with DTA offices for referrals and service delivery.
  • Ensure billing accuracy, contract compliance, and service delivery.
  • Lead program staff, supervise as needed, and promote continuous improvement.

POSITION TITLE: WFD - Young Parents Program Coordinator

LOCATION: 393 Main Street, Greenfield/155 Pleasant Street, Northampton

STATUS: Non-Exempt

SUPERVISOR: Manager/Director

Position Summary

The Young Parents Program (YPP) serves pregnant and parenting youth and young adults up to age 24. The program uses a 2-generation approach to assist families. Areas of focus include career and education, life and personal, parenting and family, and financial goals set by the families we serve. The YPP Coordinator is responsible for direct participant service, staff supervision, data collection, and reporting.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide navigation for Young Parents including parents who co-enrolled in the other CAPV programs.
  • Develop warm, respectful, and caring relationships with participants, serve as a role model, support parents in setting goals, and provide ongoing support and links to resources to help parents reach their goals.
  • Work with participants to complete assessments, set and achieve education, training, and employment goals.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with area coalitions, businesses, schools, youth serving organizations, and other non-profit organizations, to coordinate services.
  • Develop and maintain employment opportunities for parents.
  • Assist parents with accessing skills development and other workforce development resources.
  • Complete all required paperwork, data collection, and case records.
  • Complete participant file updates at least weekly.
  • Complete weekly work schedules, monthly reports, and other required documents within established timelines.
  • Act as a liaison with CAPV Continuum of Care in assuring appropriate services for families experiencing homelessness.
  • Collaborate with Greenfield, Holyoke, and Springfield DTA offices to ensure appropriate referrals, service delivery and documentation for young parents.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing, contract compliance, and service delivery.
  • Communicate regularly and work as a team with supervisors and other staff to achieve continuous quality improvement.
  • Compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Trains/orients and supervises program staff.
  • Inspires and motivates others to achieve increasing levels of performance excellence. Takes an active leadership role in valuing and promoting different perspectives and opinions and approaches throughout the agency.
  • Follow guidelines, procedures, and policies of the program contract, Department and agency.
  • Comply with agency and funders’ paperwork requirements and procedures
  • Participate in the planning, development and coordination of department activities
  • Assist in the development of grant proposals as appropriate.
  • Remote work available if applicable to the position, complying with the agency’s policy.
  • Required to travel regularly throughout the agency service area, to all Community Action sites and service locations, and occasionally out of the service area.
  • Attend all required staff and team meetings, supervision, training, professional development activities, and contractual meetings.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor, director, or designee.

Key Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience in delivering case management and workforce development, serving individuals with barriers to employment.
  • . Supervisory or program coordination experience related to youth work or human services.
  • Experience building effective relationships working with youth and young adults to overcome barriers and to set and achieve goals.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse co-workers, community businesses, and organizations.
  • Knowledge of adolescent brain development, including issues affecting diverse youth from families with lower incomes facing employability barriers.
  • Knowledge of social services and businesses in Franklin County, Hampshire County, Hampden County, and the North Quabbin region preferred.
  • Knowledge of area recovery resources and service providers.
  • Experience with data management, data capture, tracking methods and analysis for outcome measurements
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
To Qualify
  • 4 years of related experience
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Reliable transportation, Valid Driver’s License, and ability to travel throughout Western Massachusetts.
  • CPR/First Aid (or must be obtained within three months of hire).
