Tetra Tech, Inc. is seeking a Field Lead for Wetland Delineation to support our Houston environmental permitting team.

The role centers on leading field campaigns, identifying wetlands and waterbodies, collecting data, and ensuring regulatory compliance for projects in Texas. As a mid‑level professional you will supervise field crews, coordinate surveys, document findings, prepare reports and permit applications, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, forestry, wildlife, natural resource management, environmental planning, or related field.
• Three years of experience.
• Must demonstrate ability to complete wetland delineations, including plant identification, data collection and analysis, and technical writing.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel required.
• Candidate must be able to walk over uneven and vegetated terrain, carrying field equipment and coolers (up to 50 pounds).
• A pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Field/Survey Team Leader with extensive experience conducting wetland delineations to assist in growing Tetra Tech's Texas environmental compliance and permitting business. Candidates must be highly motivated and work well in a professional field and team-oriented environment. Candidates will be experienced identifying and mapping the boundaries of wetlands and waterbodies to ensure regulatory compliance and environmental protection. Candidate must also have the ability to manage a heavy workload, lead field efforts, completing wetland delineations, and protected species surveys. Travel up to two weeks at a time may be required. Must have excellent communication and organizational skills. Proficiency with field data collection methods is a requirement.

Tetra Tech is seeking a Mid-level Environmental Scientist/Biologist with strong wetland delineation skills to join our Houston, Texas team to provide support on various environmental projects throughout Texas and surrounding areas.

Duties will include:

• Wetland delineations.
• Site investigations.
• Field surveys, water quality assessments, species specific and general protected species habitat surveys, mitigation monitoring.
• Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan inspections and monitoring.
• Travel and work hours other than Monday - Friday as needed for project work.
• Report writing, permit applications, plant identification and community mapping.
• Candidates must have a good understanding of federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations
• Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking, a flexible approach to problem solving, excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written), planning, and organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in any of the multi-disciplined sciences including biology, forestry, wildlife, natural resource management, environmental planning, or a related field.
• Three years of experience.
• Must demonstrate ability to complete wetland delineations, including plant identification, data collection and analysis, and technical writing.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel required.
• Candidate must be able to walk over uneven and vegetated terrain, carrying field equipment and coolers (up to 50 pounds), and occasional sampling activities such as hand augering.
• A pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in environmental consulting and permitting is preferred.
• ArcGIS experience is a plus.
• Fulcrum or similar data collection methods a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Candidate must be able to walk over uneven and vegetated terrain, carrying field equipment and coolers (up to 50 pounds), and occasional sampling activities such as hand augering and hand shoveling.
• Candidate must be able work long field days, in excess of 8 hours.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

• Environmental factors may include but are not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat, rain), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise.

Additional Information

• This is a full-time position.
• This position is required to be in the Houston CityWest office Monday - Friday unless in the field.
• Normal working hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
• Travel up to two weeks at a time may be required.
• Field work hours other than Monday-Friday 8am-5pm may be required.
