Job summary

Orion Marine Group is seeking an experienced Equipment Operator to move construction materials and prepare job sites for wet utility installation. You will operate backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, trenchers, loaders, and related gasoline or diesel machinery.

The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience with earth-moving equipment and the ability to work long shifts with occasional weekend hours. Safety and teamwork are core to our operations and daily tasks.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience operating earth-moving and construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of wet utility installation, trenching, and grading preferred.
  • Ability to read grade stakes, site plans, and project specifications.
  • Work well in a team and communicate clearly with supervisors and crew.
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operates earth-moving and utility construction equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Performs pre- and post-operation inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
  • Monitors gauges, indicators, and controls to maintain safe operation.
  • Collaborates with crew to ensure accurate excavation, grading, and material placement.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment promptly to supervisors and adheres to safety protocols.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, including support to pipelayers or general labor tasks.
