What To Expect

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer for our facilities team at Tesla Giga Texas. This role will support startup, operations, and maintenance of facilities systems on site. Come and join us to help accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

What You'll Do
  1. Develop maintenance and operations plans for mechanical systems focusing on Wet Mechanical Systems (Hydronics, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Pumps)
  2. Troubleshoot facility system operational issues using first principles
  3. Create and modify maintenance and standard operating procedures (SOPs) and train personnel on new systems and proper operations
  4. Interface heavily with design, startup, commissioning, and installation teams to assure quality system delivery
  5. Understand and apply Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) concepts and root cause failure analysis to open-ended problems
  6. Identify and implement improvement projects to increase facility system reliability and efficiency
  7. Interface with chemical treatment companies and review sampled data weekly
  8. Simplify, optimize, accelerate, and automate facility mechanical equipment and processes
  9. Coordinate with other facility engineering disciplines to ensure systems are optimized (Electrical, Water & Wastewater Treatment, Structural, Gas & Chemicals, and Controls)
What You'll Bring
  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  2. 2-3 years' experience
  3. Intermediate knowledge of mechanical engineering principles (Heat Transfer, Psychrometric Charts, Pump Curves, Vibration Analysis)
  4. Intermediate knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, pneumatics, fans, flow meters, air handling systems, industrial chillers, Cooling Towers, boilers, process piping, heat exchangers)
  5. Strong troubleshooting background and issue resolution skills
  6. Strong data and system analysis skills
