Scope

The Wet Lab Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the building 2 Wet Lab and for ensuring chemical process analysis, documentation, and response time is accurate and timely. This position will work closely with process engineering to monitor chemical trends, identify process shifts before they impact product, and maintain stable and capable manufacturing processes. A major focus of this role will be leading the Wetlab beyond simply reporting results by actively reviewing trends, identifying abnormal conditions, escalating concerns, and partnering with Engineering and operations on corrective and preventive actions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide daily supervision and direction to building 2 Wet Lab personnel, including prioritization of testing and workload.
  • Ensure required chemical analyses, titrations, additions, and testing are completed at the established frequencies.
  • Review wet lab results and monitor SPC and chemical trends to identify shifts, abnormal variation, and conditions approaching specification limits.
  • Work closely with Process Engineering to establish and continually tighten chemical operating ranges and control limits where appropriate.
  • Immediately communicate out-of-spec results, concerning trends, or significant process changes to the appropriate Engineering and Operations personnel.
  • Ensure wet lab procedures, testing methods, specifications, and documentation are current and followed consistently.
  • Maintain appropriate calibration and verification of wet lab equipment.
  • Train and develop Wet Lab Techs on proper analytical methods, chemical handling, documentation, and interpretation of results.
  • Ensure appropriate shift-to-shift communication of concerns and required follow up.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
  • Responsibilities include the reporting of all accidents, near misses and safety concerns.
  • Perform their job duties utilizing the required and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Full participation in safety training and the ability to understand and follow the directions identified in Job Safety Analysis (JSA), PPE Assessments, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and all Safety Procedures and Alerts.

Furthermore, they do not establish a contract for employment and are subject to change at the discretion of the employer.

Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of chemistry and chemical analysis techniques.
  • Ability to interpret analytical data and identify trends rather than relying solely on spec limits.
  • Understanding of SPC, process control, and basic root cause analysis.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, operators, engineers, supervisors, and managers.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple process concerns in a fast-paces PCB manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentations.
  • Comfortable working with acids, caustics, and other chemicals used in PCB manufacturing.
  • PCB manufacturing and/or chemistry experience preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant wet lab/PCB manufacturing experience may be considered.
