Job summary

The SeventhHire LLC is seeking a Research Associate for a hands-on role in biotech labs in San Francisco. You will translate loosely written protocols into clear step-by-step instructions and work closely with R&D scientists to ensure experimental plans are executable.

You will program liquid handlers (OpenTrons, Hamilton) to run new chemistry, test robot performance against manual results, prototype simple 3D-printed adapters, and fix issues with pipetting and liquid handling techniques.

Qualifications

• 1 - 3 years of experience as a research associate
• Hands-on wet lab experience running protocols
• Experience using liquid handling systems (OpenTrons, Hamilton) and lab robotics
• Prior experience working as a Research Associate or Lab Robotics Research Associate
• Experience working as a Research Associate at a biotech company
• Experience with basic CAD modeling and 3D printing (Fusion 360)
• Experience programming in Python
• Familiarity with molecular biology protocols
• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related field

Responsibilities

• Working with R&D scientists to turn loosely written protocols into clear, step-by-step instructions
• Using AI tools and existing robotics frameworks to program liquid handlers (Opentrons, Hamilton) to run new chemistry
• Running each protocol by hand and on the robot to check that the robot's results match
• Spotting and fixing physical failure modes, like low pickup volumes or thick, viscous liquids that need a different pipetting technique
• Prototyping simple 3D-printed adapters and tools for the robotics fleet
