Job summary

Pratt Industries in Hebron, KY is hiring a Wet End Operator to join a team focused on sustainable packaging solutions. You will operate the single-facers to maintain production and quality, verify roll stock, load mill stands, perform splices, and monitor the board for consistency.

This role requires following factory masters, lifting up to 50 pounds, working in a loud, wet environment, and a commitment to safety and housekeeping.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and follow factory masters.

Responsibilities

• Operate the single-facers to produce high level of production and quality.
• Check wet end line-ups to verify correct roll stock is received and used.
• Load rolls into mill roll stands and perform splices and paper changes as needed.
• Trim only necessary amount of paper from rolls for splices.
• Mark size, grade, diameter and footage on butt rolls and insert core plugs as needed.
• Continuously monitor the board during runs to ensure quality and adjust as necessary.
• Clean starch pan, glue roll and singlefacer area after changing flutes and at end of production week.
• Cross-train on different areas of the machine as needed.
• Comply with company policies including safety and housekeeping.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate the single-facers to produce the highest level of production and quality.
• Check wet end line-ups to verify correct roll stock is received and used.
• Put rolls of paper in mill roll stands ensuring proper size and grade of paper to be run and make splices and paper changes as necessary.
• Trim only the necessary amount of paper from the rolls when preparing for splices.
• Remove roll stock from the machine when necessary, mark the proper size, grade, diameter and lineal footage on the roll, and place core plugs in each end of the butt rolls.
• Continuously monitor the board during runs to ensure quality and make adjustments as necessary.
• Clean starch pan, glue roll and singlefacer area after changing flutes and at the end of the production week.
• Take all paper off cores of stub rolls.
• Cross Train on different areas of the machine as needed
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.

Additional duties may be assigned by management.
