Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Run a relational Know Your Neighbor voter contact program with a goal of recruiting 100 volunteers in WFP and partnering with other organizations to further scale the program.
  • Work to train volunteers and build grassroots leadership.
  • Build a recruitment pipeline of the right people by embedding deeply in the community around our issues and candidates—build relationships with everyone, from small business owners and faith leaders to artists and PTA parents.
  • Organize and recruit volunteers to get involved in campaigns directly, including candidate campaigns, PACs, C4s, and C3s.
  • Design and manage member development and political education opportunities.
  • Build and maintain cross‑organization political relationships with members and leaders.
  • Build durable relationships with key leaders of allied organizations to ensure alignment around campaign goals and tactics.
  • Work with partners to manage joint volunteer activities and actions.
  • Manage contact lists and maintain up‑to‑date records in the database.
  • Lead get‑out‑the‑vote field efforts for priority races, including launching canvases, building election‑day poll site visibility operations, and other field needs.
  • Support and expand relational voter work, including the relational postcard program.
  • Manage and monitor strategies, priorities, and all aspects of campaign vision, strategy, timeline, communication, community outreach, politics, timetables, and organizing strategies.
  • Organize and recruit volunteers for text banking and phone banking.
Skills and Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of organizing experience.
  • Candidates should have at least 3 campaign cycles of experience.
  • A passion for grassroots and grass‑tops organizing.
  • A passion and commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage organizing campaigns.
  • Ability to communicate compellingly about WFP’s work and inspire others to action.
  • Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Drive and tenacity to advance our mission and values.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage the technical aspects of a project such as logistics, paperwork, and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with strong personalities, peers, public officials, and allies.
  • Proficiency in tools for sending emails, text messages, and phone banking.
  • Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness for regular in‑state travel.
  • Familiarity with southeastern politics preferred.
Location and Travel

The Western Wisconsin Region Organizer must be based out of LaCrosse or Eau Claire, which includes the counties of Pierce, Pepin, Dunn, Eau Claire, Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Juneau, Vernon, Richland, Sauk, Crawford, Iowa, Green, Grant, and Lafayette.

Candidates may often work remotely from home. Candidates must live in the Western Region of Wisconsin. All candidates may be expected to work from LaCrosse or Eau Claire. Regular in‑person meetings and events in Milwaukee, WI, will be required bi‑monthly. In‑person volunteer work within the region will be expected multiple days each week, with travel for major events and all staff meetings one to two times a month.

Schedule

This is a temporary position. The contract will end November 15, 2026. Successful employees in the temporary position may ultimately be offered a permanent position at the Working Families Party.

Union Affiliation

WFP is a unionized workplace. This short‑term temporary role is not eligible for inclusion in WFP’s staff bargaining unit. WFP’s union employees are represented by the New York Metropolitan Area Joint Board, Workers United union.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $60,000 – $75,000 a year. The final salary will be determined based on the Pay Scale, which takes into consideration years of experience, geographic location, and the final job description.
