Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain optimal boiler combustion for efficient operation.
  • Operate stokers, burners, or pulverized coal systems to achieve proper combustion.
  • Read boiler gauges, meters, and control panels and adjust as needed to maintain performance.
  • Regulate fuel feed systems to ensure a steady supply.
  • Inspect and test boiler components, burners, and related equipment to identify and fix malfunctions.
  • Clean and maintain boiler components, removing ashes and debris as needed.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of boiler systems, replacing damaged parts.
  • Follow safety protocols to prevent accidents, including fire hazards.
  • Keep records of boiler operations, fuel use, and maintenance actions.
  • Collaborate with Boiler Operators and maintenance staff to ensure smooth boiler system operation.

Job description

Salary: $25-$40 per hour depending on License type, experience and location.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain optimal fuel combustion in boiler systems to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
  • Operate and control various equipment, including stokers, burners, or pulverized coal systems, to achieve proper fuel combustion.
  • Monitor boiler gauges, meters, and control panels to ensure proper functioning and adjust controls as needed to maintain desired boiler performance.
  • Monitor and regulate fuel feed systems, ensuring an adequate and consistent fuel supply.
  • Perform routine inspections and tests on fuel systems, burners, and related equipment to identify and resolve any malfunctions or abnormalities.
  • Clean and maintain boiler components, including removing ashes, clinkers, and debris from fireboxes, hoppers, and ash pits.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of boiler systems, including replacing or repairing worn or damaged parts as needed.
  • Follow established safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents, including fire hazards.
  • Keep accurate records of boiler operations, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as Boiler Operators and maintenance staff, to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of the boiler system.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of boiler operations, fire safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and processes.
Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical/vocational school training and experience working with industrial boilers.
  • 2nd fireman, 1st fireman, 3rd engineer License Required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in a demanding environment (including standing, climbing, and lifting heavy objects, up to 35 lbs at a time).
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
