Job description

Being a youth is tough! Help be the change by joining our commitment to the community of Wyoming helping young people navigate the transformational years of middle and high school and uncovering God’s story of hope.

West Michigan Youth for Christ (YFC) and Together Church are excited to present a dual opportunity for a Hybrid Community Youth Ministry Director/Church Youth Minister to serve Godwin Heights High School and Together Church in Wyoming. In this role, you will work on the high school campus daily to build relationships with students aged 11-19 from diverse backgrounds while serving the school, staff, and community. As our youth minister, you will be an integral part of church life and community, partnering with 6th-12th grade students through discipleship, biblical teaching, and mentoring, while attending services. Our goal is to implement relational ministry actions to develop authentic Christ-sharing relationships, believing the Gospel comes to life in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person's story.

Our ideal candidate will possess spiritual and organizational leadership skills, excellent communication, strong social intelligence, and the ability to connect with all people, especially those marginalized and unseen in the community. We seek an innovative leader committed to breaking new ground for the Kingdom.

As a religious nonprofit, responsibilities include:

  1. Student Ministry: Engaging students through weekly relational ministry actions (RMAs), contact building, small groups, core club, and participating in trips and events. Attending youth activities, services, and worship, alongside administrative tasks, all aimed at fostering lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.
  2. Volunteer Ministry: Leading and empowering youth ministry volunteers through training, meetings, community support, and recruitment.
  3. School/Church Collaboration: Developing positive relationships within and between the school and church, its leadership, staff, volunteers, and the community.
  4. Fundraising: Participating in activities that support YFC’s stewardship, including inviting others to fundraising events, recruiting donors, and ministering to contacts.
  5. Spiritual Alignment: Leading, participating, and discipling as an associate minister of the Gospel, using the Holy Bible, and aligning with Wesleyan Church beliefs.
  6. Growth & Development: Engaging in ongoing personal and professional growth.

We believe the Gospel is alive in the overlap of God’s story, our story, and a young person's story. Our commitment to employees includes growth, development, training, benefits, and compensation. • Bilingual in English/Spanish (a bonus)
  • Strong moral character and good reputation
  • Value diversity in gifts, cultures, and ethnicity
  • Ability to connect, communicate, mentor, and build relationships across backgrounds
