Job summary

Arup is seeking an Associate, Mechanical Engineer to support its property and government portfolio in the West. The role can sit in Los Angeles or San Diego, and involves leading complex design projects, coordinating with disciplines, and driving sustainable building solutions.

The candidate should have 12+ years of HVAC design experience, a PE license or pathway to licensure within 1 year, and the ability to grow teams and win new work through proposals and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or architectural engineering is required.
• Minimum 12 years of experience designing building HVAC systems and leading project teams.
• Professional Engineering license is required or obtainable within 1 year of joining.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Project Manager to lead the overall design of complex projects.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines and work with project managers to deliver integrated designs.
• Foster career development for junior and senior team members.
• Participate in business development activities including proposals and client pitches.
• Maintain strong client relations regarding project delivery and repeat business.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, technical reports, and presentations with sustainable design in buildings.
