Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Regional Director for Major Gifts in the West Coast region. You will develop sophisticated cultivation and solicitation strategies to secure six- and seven-figure gifts from 100+ alumni and parent prospect households, with oversight by the Deputy Director of Development, FAS Major Gifts.

The role partners with the Harvard College Fund, Gift Planning, Major Gift, and Principal Gift colleagues, and collaborates with volunteers and AA&D teams to elevate support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years of university fundraising or relevant transferable experience.
• Ability to travel approximately 35% of working days.
• Must work events/campus activities in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

• Manage a targeted portfolio of 100+ West Coast households.
• Meet or exceed goals for visits, solicitations, and dollars raised.
• Acquire a deep understanding of prospects’ philanthropic interests.
• Develop multi-step prospect strategies to upgrade donors.
• Collaborate with Harvard College Fund, Gift Planning, Major Gift, and Principal Gift teams.
• Communicate strategy through briefings for leaders and meetings.
• Coordinate with campus partners to maximize giving potential.
• Mentor other fundraisers and contribute to strategy reviews and trainings.
