Job summary

The Moscow Food Co-op is seeking a friendly, dependable Wellness Specialist to join our team in Moscow, Idaho. You’ll assist customers, stock the Wellness department, and keep shelves clean, organized, and inviting.

This part-time role (20–29 hrs) includes unloading deliveries, setting up displays, processing orders, and supporting the Center Store team. Weekend and holiday coverage required; 2+ years preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in retail, customer service, grocery, wellness, or natural foods preferred.
  • Interest in wellness and healthy living; strong customer focus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment; dependable and punctual.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; able to follow instructions.

  • Provide exceptional, friendly customer service and product guidance.
  • Stock shelves and maintain appealing displays in the Wellness department.
  • Receive and organize new product shipments; assist with inventory.

The Moscow Food Co-op is looking for a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Wellness Specialist to join our team! In this role, you’ll be the go-to person in our Wellness department, helping customers find the products they need while ensuring our shelves are well-stocked, clean, and inviting.What You’ll Do:Deliver outstanding customer service to our Co-op communityStock shelves and maintain appealing displays in the Wellness departmentReceive and organize new product shipmentsKeep product areas clean, organized, and accessibleAssist customers with special ordersSupport the Center Store team with grocery stocking, inventory, and merchandisingThis is a part-time (20-29 hrs) position. Closing shifts on Thursday-Sunday and other shifts as needed to cover for vacations. Weekends required. Must be available during holidays, breaks and through the 2025/2026 school year. Help promote health, wellness, and community through great service and cooperative values.Position SummaryThe Wellness Department Staff members support the daily operations of the Wellness Department by providing outstanding customer service, maintaining an organized and well-stocked sales floor, and assisting customers with wellness-related products. This position helps create a welcoming and informative shopping experience while supporting department goals related to sales, merchandising, cleanliness, and product knowledge. Wellness Department Staff work collaboratively with department leadership and store staff to ensure efficient operations and positive customer experience.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service & SalesProvide exceptional, friendly, and knowledgeable customer service to all shoppers.Assist customers with locating products and answering general questions about supplements, body care, grocery, and wellness products.Maintain a welcoming department environment by actively engaging with customers and offering assistance.Support department sales goals through product recommendations, merchandising, and promotions.Follow Co-op customer service standards and contribute to a positive shopping experience.Department OperationsStock, rotate, face, and organize products throughout the department.Monitor inventory levels and communicate out-of-stock or low-stock items to department leadership.Assist with receiving deliveries, checking invoices, and properly storing products.Maintain accurate shelf tags, signage, pricing, and promotional displays.Ensure products are fresh, clean, properly labeled, and merchandised according to department standards.Assist with inventory counts and other department projects assigned.Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department, backstock areas, and shared workspaces.Follow all safety, sanitation, and loss prevention procedures.Teamwork & CommunicationWork collaboratively with coworkers and other departments to support overall store operations.Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding customer concerns, product issues, and operational needs.Maintain professionalism and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist in other areas of the store including back up cashier as needed.Customer Service ExpectationsCustomer service is the top priority of this position. Wellness Department Staff are expected to create friendly, welcoming, and helpful experience for every customer. Employees should proactively greet customers, remain approachable and engaged on the sales floor, and respond to questions with professionalism and care.Staff should demonstrate:Strong communication and interpersonal skills.A positive and solutions-oriented attitude.Patience, professionalism, and respect for diverse customer needs and perspectives.A willingness to learn about wellness products and continuously improve product knowledge.Consistent attention to detail and follow-through.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Previous experience in retail, customer service, grocery, wellness, or natural foods preferred.Interest in wellness, supplements, natural foods, and healthy living.Ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Basic math and computer skills.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of supplements, body care, natural foods, or specialty diets.Previous experience working in a cooperative, grocery, or wellness retail environment.Familiarity with natural and organic products.Schedule & Physical RequirementsMust be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds.Ability to bend, kneel, squat, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.Ability to safely use ladders, carts, pallet jacks, and other store equipment as trained.The job duties, responsibilities, skills, and the requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that an employee may be required to perform.
