Job summary

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe in Alaska is seeking a Health Educator to lead wellness workshops and community programs, collaborating with the Wellness team and other departments to deliver culturally-honoring health education for un'ina and staff.

The role includes one-on-one health coaching and group sessions, using motivational interviewing and evidence-based practices to help clients meet goals; documentation in the electronic health record is required for coordination with the care team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health education/ Promotion, Public Health, Human Services, or related field.
  • Two years of experience in public health/ health promotion program delivery.
  • Experience with computerized information management systems.
  • Experience working in grant funded programs.
  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate wellness workshops, events and activities in KIT and the community.
  • Partner with Wellness team, KIT departments, and community health programs to deliver holistic, culturally-honoring wellness programming.
  • Facilitate one-on-one and group education using motivational interviewing and evidence-based practices.
  • Utilize electronic health records to document health and wellness education activities for care team collaboration.
  • Coordinate health promotion activities with Behavioral Health, Early Childhood Center, Yaghanen Youth and Elders programs.
  • Prepare monthly reports with data tracking, evaluation and grant reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of current health disparities that impact un'ina.
