Job summary

The YMCA of the USA in Silver Spring is seeking a Wellness Director to lead the health and wellness center operations, programs, and staff. The role emphasizes equity, belonging, and whole-person health across a diverse community.

You will oversee program delivery, staff supervision, and member experience, ensuring high standards of service while aligning with the Y’s mission to support healthier and more connected lives.

Qualifications

• Undergrad degree in exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition or physical education.
• Current nationally recognized fitness certifications (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NSPA).
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Wellness/Fitness with supervisory experience.

What You Bring

• An undergraduate degree (or advanced degree) in exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition or physical education is required.
• Must possess a current nationally recognized fitness certifications (i.e. ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NSPA).
• Minimum of 5 years' experience working within a Wellness/Fitness department. Supervisory experience, a record of delivering excellent personal training management and instruction.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills including staff supervision and development.
• Flexible work schedule with the availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and members while committed to working with diverse population.
