Job summary

Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to learn other Association software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.

• Establish classes, programs, and activities to meet community needs.
• Develop and manage the budget for areas of responsibility with the Director.

• Ensure facilities and equipment are safe, maintained and accessible.
• Coordinate facility usage with branch staff teams.
• Handle payroll, incident reports, brochures, and department communications.
• Engage in YMCA staff teams and support major events.
• Maintain a clean, safe Wellness center adhering to OSHA and internal standards.
• Schedule repair of equipment; conduct monthly staff meetings and drills.

Wellness Director

Regular Full-Time First/Mid Mgr Metuchen, NJ, US

Salary Range: $62,000.00 To $65,000.00 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision and direction of the Director of Operations, the Wellness Director is responsible for the total operation of the Wellness and Fitness areas for all related areas and age groups.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure all health and safety guidelines are strictly adhered to.
2. Plan, organize, and give direction to all areas and events assigned to the Wellness and Fitness departments in order to meet the needs of the community and Association.
3. Recruit, hire, train, schedule and develop staff to fill the needs of the Wellness and Fitness areas.
4. Establish classes, programs, and activities within the needs of the Association and community.
5. Develop and manage the budget for all areas of responsibility in conjunction with the Director for Branch.
6. Assess the program and department impact and effectiveness using current data.
7. Responsible for program areas being used ensuring they are safe, maintained and suits the needs of the program
8. Work closely with branch staff team to coordinate facility usage.
9. Administrative functions, including but not limited to: payroll, hiring packets, incident reports, brochure preparation, department and branch communications.
10. Engage as an active participant and leader in YMCA staff teams as assigned.
11. Lend support to all YMCA events (5K Walk, Halloween event, Healthy Kids Day, LiveSTRONG day) as needed.
12. Maintain an exceptionally clean and safe Wellness center, ensuring the environment is safe and that all OSHA regulations, best practices and internal practices are being met and that equipment is in excellent working order and welcome desk is professional and orderly.
13. Regularly evaluate all program areas for damaged or broken equipment.
14. Maintain and schedule repair of equipment, in a timely fashion.
15. Conduct a monthly staff meeting, which includes an emergency drill.
16. Complete all administrative functions in a timely, accurate manner; including but not limited to: staff paperwork, accident/incident reports, staff meeting notes, processing of ADP payroll, accurate and up-to-date records of all current CPR/AED, First-Aid, personal training and group-ex staff certifications.
17. Emulate the four core values to members and staff on a daily basis.
18. All other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

• BS/BA degree in related field is preferred or equivalent education and work experience in related field.
• Program Management experience.
• Budget development and management experience.
• Previous supervisory experience with the ability to meet deadline.
• Ability to interact with diverse populations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software and ability to quickly learn and use other software products utilized by the Association.

PHYSICAL REQUIRIEMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Normal amounts of walking, standing, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, bending stretching for a fitness and wellness environment; evening and weekend hours may be required.
