Part of a nationwide family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities, we are seeking a Wellness Coordinator. The purpose of this position is to originate, direct, and coordinate all special and ongoing fitness/physical wellness programs under the direction of the resident services director, in accordance with established policies and procedures. The coordinator will promote a comprehensive wellness program aligned with the principles of LifeConnect, addressing all dimensions of wellness, and encouraging a commitment to optimizing the health and well-being of residents and staff.

In this role, the Wellness Coordinator will:
  • Manage the fitness center operation, including facilities, personnel, programs, and budget.
  • Lead group exercise classes, monitoring and adjusting types and times to meet residents' interests and needs, including purpose-based, functional, and traditional fitness classes suitable for seniors.
  • Encourage resident participation in the fitness center and classes.
  • Promote and facilitate the use of Technogym and other fitness machines.
  • Conduct senior fitness tests, entering information into LifeConnect or Technogym technology.
  • Develop individualized fitness programs tailored to residents' needs and abilities across all levels of care.
  • Provide personal and fitness instruction, including equipment orientation, fitness assessments, and ongoing progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with therapy directors, nurses, and healthcare administrators to present preventive health programs, conduct balance assessments, and coordinate rehabilitative services as medically indicated.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as physical therapy, exercise physiology, or gerontology.
  • Current ACSM Health Fitness Specialist or Group Fitness Instructor certification, obtained at or within three months of hire.
  • Desired certifications include personal trainer, Tai Chi, or Arthritis Foundation aquatic certification.
  • Maintains current ACSM certification, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • Experience working with senior adults or in long-term healthcare settings.
  • At least two years of experience in direct fitness programming, preferably with seniors.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions.
Compensation and Benefits:

Pay Range: $22.07 - $27.12 per hour.
