Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs is seeking a full-time coordinator for preventive health enhancement and fitness programs. The role involves planning and instructing exercise classes aimed at improving community health among tribal members. Plan and coordinate preventive health enhancement, rehabilitative physical fitness, and health education training programs for community members and tribal employees. Instruct exercise classes for all age groups. Incorporate the principles of wellness and physical fitness into all activities sponsored by the CWC. Keep abreast of current national wellness initiatives and activities to motivate community members towards healthier lifestyles. Design a variety of exercise classes that meet the needs of the community incorporating exercise, nutrition, stress management, safe living, and environmental health.
Associate degree in Physical Education or related degree specializing in Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness. Three years’ work experience in promoting a healthy living environment. Thorough knowledge of principles of wellness, physical fitness, kinesiology, anatomy, and physiology. Understanding of diabetes mellitus and obesity. Excellent communication skills; written, oral, and interpersonal. Have a strong attention to detail. Be skilled in social perceptiveness, critical thinking, and active listening. Have experience working in a fitness atmosphere understanding exercise technique and body mechanics. Knowledge of fitness and weight equipment operation and application to specific. Must be able to multi-task. Knowledge of use of office equipment and personal computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Must submit and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening. Will also be required to submit and pass a criminal background check with Federal, Tribal and State Law Enforcement.
