Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of relevant experience in program management, community health, wellness, recreation, healthcare, nonprofit services, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience developing and implementing programs, supervising staff, coordinating multiple initiatives, and building community partnerships preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and operational launch of the Wellness Center and coordinate ongoing day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and maintain program schedules, registration processes, operating procedures, participation requirements, and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate space, staffing, equipment, supplies, scheduling, and communication needed for programs and activities.
  • Continuously evaluate community needs and recommend new, expanded, modified, or discontinued programs based on participation, outcomes, and available resources.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, accessible environment for individuals and families of varying ages and abilities.
  • Develop and coordinate wellness programs such as fitness and physical activity, nutrition education, prevention, health education, youth and family activities, social-emotional wellness, and other community initiatives.
  • Recruit, orient, schedule, supervise, and support Wellness Center staff, instructors, contractors, volunteers, and program facilitators as assigned.
  • Establish measurable objectives for major programs and monitor participation, engagement, quality, participant feedback, and outcomes.
  • Ensure programs are delivered consistently and in accordance with established PTCHC standards, policies, and safety requirements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with PTCHC medical, behavioral health, dental, optical, school-based health, and other clinical teams.
  • Work with providers and clinical leadership to identify wellness programs that support prevention, chronic disease management, nutrition, physical activity, behavioral health, and overall well-being.
  • Develop practical referral and communication processes between PTCHC clinical services and Wellness Center programs while maintaining appropriate privacy and confidentiality.
  • Help create a coordinated patient experience that connects clinical care with community wellness resources.
  • Serve as a visible representative of the Wellness Center in the community and develop relationships with schools, employers, community organizations, local agencies, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and wellness professionals.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative programming, community events, education, outreach, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Promote Wellness Center programs throughout PTCHC and the surrounding communities, including outreach to populations with limited access to wellness and preventive health resources.
  • Assist with development and management of the Wellness Center operating budget and monitor expenses to remain within approved budgets.
  • Identify cost-effective approaches to program delivery and resource utilization and assist with purchasing equipment, supplies, and services in accordance with PTCHC policies.
  • Identify potential grants, sponsorships, partnerships, and other funding opportunities to support Wellness Center programming.
  • Work with PTCHC Finance and Administration to maintain appropriate financial and program documentation.
  • Ensure Wellness Center programs operate in accordance with PTCHC policies and applicable laws, regulations, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate participant safety, incident reporting, and documentation processes.
  • Ensure applicable staff, instructors, volunteers, and contractors receive appropriate orientation and training and maintain required background checks, certifications, or licenses.
  • Monitor the facility and program activities for safety concerns and promptly report or address identified issues through appropriate PTCHC processes.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and support to Wellness Center staff and establish clear expectations and accountability.
  • Develop staffing schedules and ensure appropriate program coverage.
  • Foster a collaborative, respectful, community-focused work environment and work closely with PTCHC leadership and departments.
  • Prepare regular updates for PTCHC leadership regarding program activity, participation, accomplishments, challenges, outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.

Position Summary


The Wellness Center Director is responsible for the development, implementation, day-to-day operation, and continued growth of PTCHC's Community Wellness Center. The Director will build and coordinate programs that support prevention, healthy lifestyles, physical activity, nutrition, education, social-emotional well-being, and other identified community needs.


This position will work closely with PTCHC clinical departments and community partners to connect patients and community members with appropriate wellness resources. The Director will oversee programs, staff and instructors, schedules, partnerships, participant engagement, budgets, safety, and program outcomes while ensuring the Wellness Center supports PTCHC's mission and whole-person approach to care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Requirements


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS


Education


  • Bachelor's degree in health promotion, public health, community health, exercise science, recreation, social services, nonprofit management, education, or a related field preferred.

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.


Experience


  • Three to five years of relevant experience in program management, community health, wellness, recreation, healthcare, nonprofit services, or a related field preferred.

  • Experience developing and implementing programs, supervising staff, coordinating multiple initiatives, and building community partnerships preferred.

  • Healthcare, FQHC, public health, nonprofit, or community-based organization experience is preferred.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Strong organizational, program-development, project-management, and time-management skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with healthcare providers, multidisciplinary teams, community partners, and the public.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to work within a community wellness facility and participate in program implementation and community activities. The Director may be required to walk throughout the facility, stand for extended periods, attend community events, and occasionally assist with program setup or activities.

The Wellness Center Director will play a foundational role in establishing the identity, culture, programs, and community impact of the Wellness Center while creating strong integration with PTCHC's existing healthcare services.
