Job summary

Landis Communities in Lititz, PA seeks a part-time Wellness Assistant to support a campus-wide fitness program, motivate residents and lead healthy classes. The role emphasizes safe exercise for older adults, with tours and demonstrations of fitness areas and stations.

The successful candidate will hold a kinesiology-related degree, geriatric fitness certification, CPR, and lifeguard credentials, with 2+ years of experience in fitness for older adults.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in kinesiology, physiology or related field preferred.
• Geriatric fitness/exercise certification preferred.
• Has and maintains current CPR certification.
• Has, or willing to obtain, Shallow Water Lifeguard certification.
• Minimum 2 years experience as fitness trainer having worked with older adults preferred.
• Proficient in use of computer and related technology required for the role.
• Good verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and promote fitness programs for residents.
• Motivate residents to participate in classes.
• Orient residents to safe use of exercise opportunities and lead tours/demos.
• Design and lead preventative health and wellness/exercise classes.
• Track intake forms electronically and with wellness staff.
• Plan and carry out events like Senior Games and Wellness Fair; staff occasional events.
• Assist in developing forms/documentation for Wellness Center programming.
• Support Wellness programs offered to Personal Care and Healthcare residents.
• Collaborate with volunteers and other staff; promote inter-community interactions.
• Back-up lifeguard in Aquatic Center as needed.
• Assist in cleaning the wellness center as needed.
• Maintain safety and confidentiality according to HIPAA and policies.

Job Details: Job Location: Lititz, PA 17543, Position Type: Part Time, Job Shift: Day, Wellness Assistant

• Monday to Friday day shifts
• 48 hours bi-weekly

• Supports a campus-wide fitness program that promotes the positive physical, social and psychological benefits of exercise for residents. Emphasis is on safe exercises that increase cardiovascular functioning, strength, balance and flexibility. Works with individuals with a wide range of physical and cognitive abilities.
• Motivates residents to use exercise opportunities and participate in classes.
• Orients residents and team members to safe and effective use of exercise opportunities. Leads tours and demonstrations of the fitness area and Life Trail Stations.
• Designs and leads preventative health and wellness/exercise classes.
• Tracks and assists in electronic processes for intake forms.
• Works with Wellness and Life Enrichment teams to plan and carry out special events and educational programs that promote exercise, such as Senior Games and the Wellness Fair. Takes a turn staffing occasional special events.
• Assists in the development of forms and documentation for Wellness Center programming.
• Supports Wellness programming offered to Personal Care and Healthcare residents as coordinated with the interdisciplinary team.
• Works supportively with volunteers who assist residents in the wellness programs.
• Participates in wellness networking with staff of other retirement communities and promotes inter-community interactions.
• May serve as back-up lifeguard in the Aquatic Center as needed.
• Participates in the cleaning of the wellness center as needed.
• Relates well with residents, clients, family members, team members and the community.
• Demonstrates dependability, competence, accuracy and is observant.
• Adheres to compliance policies regarding confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and resident and client rights.
• Complies with regulatory agency standards and applicable policies and procedures.
• Complies with safety and infection control protocols in all aspects of the job.
• Demonstrates understanding of the Code of Conduct and abides by its guidelines in all aspects of the job.
• Attends in-services and team meetings as required for role.
