Job summary

Liberty Senior Living in Wilmington, NC, seeks a motivated Wellness Coordinator to lead and supervise wellness programming and implement the INSPIRE program for residents. You will oversee contracted instructors, conduct wellness assessments, and develop engaging resident activities.

This role focuses on safety, communication, and program quality in a senior living setting. The ideal candidate has a degree in Exercise Science or related field with 5+ years’ experience teaching seniors;

Qualifications

• Must have a degree in Exercise Science or related field and/or 5+ years’ experience teaching exercise to seniors as a certified instructor.
• Must be willing to complete continuing education for additional INSPIRE certification to stay current.
• Must demonstrate professional appearance, clear communication, and dependability.

Responsibilities

• Sets the tone for the Wellness Department and maintains open communication with residents and staff.
• Prepares and monitors schedules for contracted instructors and interns and oversees wellness workshops.

• Create blogs for the website and ensure monthly resident educational presentations.
• Maintain records of instructor credentials and ensure proper PPE and infection control practices.

WELLNESS COORDINATOR

Job Summary:

• Directs, coordinates and supervises all wellness programming and ensures implementation of the I.N.S.P.I.R.E. Wellness Program .
• Sets positive attitude, tone and atmosphere for the Wellness Department.
• Must treat each visitors, your supervisor and residents with courteousness and respect.
• Prepares and monitors the work schedule for contract instructors and interns.
• Ensures open communication between self, immediate supervisor, and residents, Executive Director as well as between other department staff.
• Prepares monthly resident engagement and activity reports using template provided by Senior Living Management.
• Recruit and oversee all contracted fitness instructors.
• Recruit, oversee, and completes reports required by university for college internsin the wellness department.
• Lead 15-20 hours of community exercise classes weekly.
• Conduct wellness orientation for all residents, wellness assessments and write exercise prescriptions for residents,
• Create Blogs for the website 2 x a week.
• Ensures that there is a monthly resident educational presentation from the Wellness department.
• Maintain accurate records of contract instructor credentials.
• Responsible to ensure supplies and equipment are adequate, stored, maintained properly, and available to staff to provide for efficient department performance.
• Is knowledgeable of how to use each cleaning chemical used in the wellness department.
• Trained on proper PPE for chemical use and has access to SDS for each chemical in use.
• Is knowledgeable of Infection Control and Standard Precautions and ensure employees are following all policies and procedures.
• Schedule any exercise equipment maintenance needs.
• Assist with marketing and fundraising.
• Stay current on health and wellness knowledge to share with residents.
• Ensure pool and spa chemical testing completed and action taken for out of range chemical levels.
• Ensure pool and spa are operating within Health Department guidelines at all times.
• Monitor daily operations of the Wellness Center and I.N.S.P.I.R.E. health and wellness activities around campus.
• Work with other departments to create and integrate the wellness philosophy throughout the community.
• Maintain good communication skills with all departments as well as residents about wellness activities provided on campus.
• Create, schedule, and present health and wellness workshops throughout the year for residents.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical information and/or contact information.

Job Requirements:

• Must have a degree in Exercise Science or related field and/or 5+ years’ experience teaching exercise to seniors as a certified instructor.
• Must be willing and interested in completing continuing education programs for additional certification to ensure the INSPIRE programming stays fresh and relevant.
• Must demonstrate neat appearance and good personal hygiene and set example for other staff by wearing appropriate uniform/attire and nametag as established by supervisor.
• Must have a professional attitude, excellent communication skills, and be conscientious, trustworthy, dependable and punctual.
• Must be CPO certified or willing to become CPO certified within 3 months of employment.
• Must read, know, and follow oral and written communication regarding personnel, department and Facility policies.
• Runs department in a safe manner and trains staff in proper safety practices to include fire and safety alarms, disaster drills and infection control practices and wearing of protective equipment.
• Must be knowledgeable of Health Department Sanitation practices and follow policies and procedure for cleaning and handling contaminated materials and proper removal.
• Must attend all required in-service training for all staff.
• Conduct wellness departmental meetings and in-service training in proper safety practices.
• Reviews wellness policies and procedures periodically for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Assures compliance and recommends changes as needed.
