Job description

QUALIFICATIONS: YMCA Group Exercise Instructor Certifications or an accepted group exercise certification.

BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for the safety, education, and leadership of Group Exercise class participants.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • After each class, record the number of participants in each class in the Aerobic binder.
  • Ensure that proper safety regulations and conditions are maintained.
  • Maintain professional conduct and neat appearance consistent with the Group Exercise Dress Policy.
  • Maintain an alert and observant behavior at all times. Instructors must ensure all participants receive the individual coaching and guidance appropriate for their fitness level.
  • Ensure an enjoyable, efficient, and physically challenging class for all participants, incorporating modifications.
  • Be aware of the YMCA programs and schedules and willingly share the information with participants.
  • Instruct classes in accordance with YMCA policies, including covering all class components and using proper teaching techniques.
  • Promote the YMCA mission at all times.
  • Suggest improvements.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required by the YMCA and your supervisor.
  • Perform other functions as assigned, relative to the welfare of the Association.
  • Maintain current certifications including CPR.
