The Wellsite Engineer at Mazama Energy ("Company"), under the guidance of the Drilling Engineering Manager, is an early-career development role within the drilling engineering team. The position is designed to build strong field execution and office-based engineering capability through a structured rotation between active geothermal wellsites and engineering assignments during the first two years. The Wellsite Engineer will support planning, execution, reporting, and post-well evaluation to help ensure wells are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements, schedules, and budgets.

Frequent travel and extended stays at project sites will be required during field rotations. The role may require rotational schedules, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on drilling operations.

Essential Duties and Proficiencies:

The following outlines the essential duties and proficiency expectations for this junior position. Responsibilities will be performed under the guidance of experienced drilling engineers and field leadership, with increasing ownership as competency develops. This list is not exhaustive and is not presented in any particular order of priority or importance.

Office Engineering and Planning:

• Support development and maintenance of drilling and completion programs, procedures, and engineering documentation.
• Collect and organize the technical and operational data required to assemble drilling programs and supporting documents.
• Prepare calculations, tables, and reports using Company-approved units and formats.
• Maintain an auditable record of calculations, assumptions, revisions, and supporting data.
• Review geological, offset-well, and operational information with the drilling engineering team.
• Contribute to risk assessments, contingency planning, drilling-on-paper exercises, and lessons-learned reviews.
• Translate field observations into engineering feedback and help ensure lessons from operations are incorporated into future well designs and procedures.
• Assist with daily KPI reporting, technical presentations, end-of-well reports (EOWR), and post-well reviews; identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, reliability, and cost.

Field Operations and Execution:

• Develop practical knowledge of rig operations and service-company activities by actively observing and supporting drilling, tripping, casing, cementing, directional drilling, mud systems, logging, well control, and completion activities.
• Support daily drilling and completion operations at the wellsite under the direction of field and drilling engineering leadership, with a strong focus on safety, procedural compliance, and operational discipline. Participate in pre-job and safety meetings.
• Work collaboratively with field personnel and promptly elevate deviations or concerns.
• Collect, validate, and communicate daily operational information, including activity summaries, time breakdowns, KPIs, costs, inventory, service performance, lookaheads, and operational lessons learned.

Development Path and Continuous Improvement:

• Complete a structured two-year development rotation between office-based drilling engineering assignments and active wellsite rotations to build balanced technical and operational capability.
• Work with the Drilling Engineering Manager and assigned mentors (Drilling Engineers) to develop defined competencies, receive regular feedback, and progressively take on greater responsibility.
• Support evaluation and field trials of new drilling technologies, equipment, and processes, documenting performance and lessons learned.
• Following successful completion of the initial two-year rotation, the position may transition to a full-time office-based Drilling Engineer role as the Company’s development program grows, based on demonstrated competency, performance, and business needs.

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

• 3–5 years of relevant engineering, drilling, field, or well-construction experience; strong internship, co-op, or field-placement experience will be considered.
• Prior exposure to geothermal, oil and gas, HPHT, drilling, or completion operations is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated interest in developing a career in geothermal well construction and willingness to learn both field operations and office-based drilling engineering.
• Willingness and ability to complete the initial two-year office/field rotational development program and work extended field assignments as operationally required.
