Job summary

Job Description

USD 495 is seeking a motivated and student-focused Welding/Vocational Education Instructor for Larned High School. The successful candidate will provide high-quality instruction in welding and related career and technical education (CTE) courses while preparing students for postsecondary education, industry certifications, and workforce opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Teach welding and related vocational education courses to high school students.
  • Develop and implement engaging, hands‑on learning experiences aligned with Kansas Career and Technical Education standards.
  • Maintain a safe and productive laboratory/shop environment.
  • Integrate employability, leadership, and workplace readiness skills into instruction.
  • Build relationships with local industry partners and community stakeholders.
  • Maintain program equipment, inventory, and safety procedures.
  • Participate in school and district professional responsibilities and activities.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Hold a valid Kansas teaching license with an appropriate Career and Technical Education endorsement; or
  • Possess relevant industry experience and qualifications that may allow eligibility for a Kansas CTE Specialized Certificate.

Candidates with extensive welding, fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or related industry experience are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and practices.
  • Experience working with high school‑aged students, apprentices, or adult learners.
  • Industry certifications and/or credentials relevant to welding and manufacturing.
Salary and Benefits

Salary and benefits will be based on district salary schedules, education, experience, and applicable district policies.
