Job summary

Reading Truck Group is seeking a Weld Trainee to provide welding support as part of a team building Standard and/or Special assembled service bodies and small parts.

You will be trained in multiple departments during a 3–6 month program to grow into a General Welder, welding aluminum and galvanized steel, following blueprints and work orders. This hands-on training emphasizes quality and safety as you gain essential welding and tooling skills.

Qualifications

• Prior manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to pass tape measure testing.
• Ability to read blue print.

Responsibilities

• Weld together structural components using aluminum and galvanized steel as specified by blueprints, work orders, or oral instructions in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt components to obtain required configuration and positions for welding.
• Monitor fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating, warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
• Complete inline quality inspection of work and maintain weld quality per established guidelines.
• Cross train on multiple welding workstations and perform tasks in multiple stations to fill staffing gaps.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools including welding equipment.
