Job summary

Productive Resources is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Design Engineer for our customer's facility in Goodfield, IL. The role focuses on tooling design, weld fixtures, and supporting continuous improvement in weld and assembly processes.

You will lead root-cause investigations, participate in design reviews for manufacturability, and collaborate with production teams to implement improvements. This is a 6-month contract with potential extension and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing manufacturing tooling and weld fixtures.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes and fabrication techniques.
• Experience performing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and CAD models.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Investigate welding-related quality concerns and identify root causes.
• Lead problem-solving to track and eliminate production issues.
• Participate in design reviews focusing on DFM and robust tooling.
• Evaluate weld fixtures and tooling to improve efficiency.
• Analyze production schedules and recommend equipment improvements.
• Develop and implement weld tooling enhancements to increase quality and safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements.
• Assist in training welders and robot programmers on new processes.
• Review assembly fixtures and plant layouts to improve ergonomics.
• Document processes and develop standard work.
