Job summary

Great Dane LLC is hiring for a welding role at our U.S. plant. The position focuses on general welding assignments across the plant to support production goals, with emphasis on safety and quality.

It’s a hands-on role ideal for those looking to contribute to an established, 125-year-old manufacturing legacy. Expect to perform welding tasks in various positions, load materials, inspect finished work, and stay alert throughout long shifts.

Qualifications

• Employee must be able to use pneumatic power tools and equipment of all types.
• Employee must be able to accurately read a tape measure.
• Employee must be able to perform and remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day.
• Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in the use of all supplies.
• The employee must perform the assigned tasks in a way they meet or exceed the required production level.

Responsibilities

• Ability to weld on a flat, curved, or vertical surface.
• Ability to set a welding machine, including the gas, volts, amps, and wire speed.
• Ability to weld in a variety of positions, particularly overhead.
• Be able to make minor adjustments to the welding equipment as needed.
• Properly load raw materials, parts, etc., into the welding machine.
• Removes work pieces and scrap from machines.
• Files, grinds, or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales, or rust from work pieces.
• Hammers out bent or warped spots in metal.
• Sorts, marks, tags finished work.
• Transports material or signal crane operator to move materials.
• Compares work piece with straight edge or template to verify conformance to specifications.
• Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Performs other routine duties as needed.
