Job summary

Arcosa Wind Towers, Inc. in Newton, IA is seeking a Weld Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will train, instruct, and test welders, read blueprints, lay out work, and operate welding equipment (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW) to join and repair metal parts.

Ensure safety and conformance to specifications in a fast-paced plant environment. The role requires 3 years of production welding experience, the ability to pass weld qualifications within 4 weeks, and 2 years of training production

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 years of production welding experience.
• Must pass welding qualification within 4 weeks.
• 2 years of training production welding operators.
• Understanding of NDT VT/UT/MT/PT.
• Ability to follow Weld Procedure Specifications.
• AWS/ASME code welding knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Comply with safety practices for heavy weld and paint fabrication.
• Audit welding operators and process safety practices.
• Troubleshoot welding processes and equipment issues.
• Identify improvement areas and test new welding processes.
• Read weld procedures and customer requirements.
• Inspect welds and train new welders.
• Document and record keeping as required.
• Calibrate welding equipment and energy delivery.
