Job summary

Nortek Data Center Cooling in Madison, TN seeks a Welder I to support data center cooling product manufacturing. You will perform welding using GMAW, GTAW, arc stud welding and resistance welding to join and repair metal components per shop drawings and AWS specs.

The role requires reading blueprints, measuring devices and schedules, lifting up to 50 lbs, standing long hours, and maintaining safe, organized work area while supporting lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to read measuring devices.
• Able to read blueprints.
• Must have knowledge of the tools of the trade.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods on a concrete floor.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Able to pass a weld test.
• Able to follow instructions.
• Able to read, write, speak English.
• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Completion of some secondary/trade school is preferred.
• Requires a minimum of 3 years of similar work experience in welding or construction.

Responsibilities

• Weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products per shop blueprints and AWS specs.
• Welding processes include GMAW, GTAW, Arc Stud Welding, and Resistance Welding.
• Cuts metal using oxy-acetylene, plasma cutter, or cutting discs per shop prints.
• May pass employer performance tests to meet certification standards of AWS.
• Operate shear, chop saw, crane, die grinder, notcher, drill press, grinder, bandsaw, forklift, and iron worker.
• Work safely and efficiently; support lean initiatives and 5S.
• Wear protective gear and maintain good housekeeping.
• Collaborate with team to meet production schedules.
