Job summary

DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is seeking a Welding Technician at our Port of Alexandria facility in the Welding Department. The technician assists FBS Welders and supports cutting, fitting, and welding of aluminum bus pipe and jumpers to keep production flowing.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, moving machinery, operating cranes, and using hand tools with emphasis on safety and accuracy to meet project timelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Read and understand measuring devices such as tape measurer, rules, and combination squares required.
• Perform simple shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, and whole numbers) required.
• Experience applying simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screw driver etc. required.
• Demonstrate safe work practices.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Highly motivated with a desire to learn.

Responsibilities

• Successfully apply simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammer, screw driver etc.
• Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
• Positions and aligns parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery, and hand tools.
• Recognizes, sets up, and operates hand and common power tools.
• Moves parts safely into position; manually or with hoists or cranes.
• Keeps the warehouse property in order, including but not limited to: routine maintenance and grooming of grounds and facilities and regular and preventative maintenance on all Company equipment and machinery.
• Attends safety meetings as requested / instructed.
• Operates all machinery and equipment, including the Company’s forklift, in a safe manner at all times.
• Promotes company goals.
• Works to displays an excellent safety record

DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Welding Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria Facility in our Welding Department. The Welding Technician assists FBS Welders, who perform cutting, fitting, and welding of aluminum bus pipe and cable jumpers. The Technician supports the production process of the PFB in the Project Services Center. The Technician performs skilled work such as, reading blueprints, moving machinery or equipment, including cranes, in order to manipulate the pipe or jumpers. The Welder performs duties with speed and accuracy in order to keep a steady flow of productivity.
