How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Welding Sales Specialist is a technical sales position responsible for developing Airgas-specific expertise in Welding processes and applications. This role collaborates closely with an Advanced Fabrication Welding Sales Specialist, utilizing the Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology, including Efficiency Analysis & Engineered Cost Reductions. The specialist interacts with Airgas associates, external vendors, suppliers, and both existing and prospective customers.

  • Responsible for growing profitable sales of Welding Processes and Applications to small to midsize Airgas customers.
  • Develop in-depth technical knowledge to match customer needs with Airgas products and services, addressing inquiries and providing excellent customer service.
  • Utilize sales tools like Efficiency Analysis, Welding surveys, and Welding 201 to promote sales and profitability.
  • Travel to customer sites with the Advanced Fabrication Welding Process Specialist to assess current welding processes and recommend Airgas welding solutions.
  • Provide customers with sales knowledge and marketing materials for Shielding Gases, welding products, and services.
  • Upgrade selling skills and technical knowledge, especially in automation applications and CNC cutting systems.
  • Operate safely at all times and promote safety among colleagues and customers.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Associate's Degree in Welding (AAS) preferred; equivalent military training, Bachelor's in Engineering, or additional welding experience may be considered.
  • Pass the Certified Welding Sales Representative (CWSR) exam sponsored by AWS after hiring, to complete Airgas Welding training.
  • Membership in AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, or SME is highly desirable.
  • Prior sales experience required; technical sales experience preferred.
  • At least 4 years of welding industry experience.
  • Strong interest and basic knowledge of welding processes and applications.
  • Relationship management and problem-solving skills for technical solutions.
  • Ability to build relationships within Airgas and externally.
  • Knowledge of TQM, Lean, and Six Sigma principles.
