Qualifications

  • Previous hands-on welding experience required.
  • Must pass a welding test demonstrating ability to produce welds meeting company requirements.
  • Ability to safely set up and operate welding equipment.
  • Experience using grinders, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, blueprints, and production specifications.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize weld defects and other quality concerns.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work assigned shifts, overtime, and weekends as required.
  • Ability to perform consistent welding repairs that meet established quality standards.
  • Ability to identify defects and follow approved repair procedures.

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and repetitive movements.
  • Ability to grip, push, pull, and manipulate tools and materials throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move materials within the department’s established requirements, using lifting equipment or team assistance as required.
  • Ability to safely position and handle heavy wheels and steel components.
  • Ability to work in a hot, loud, and physically demanding manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Review defects and follow approved rework instructions.
  • Perform welding repairs on wheels and steel components.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, making adjustments as needed.
  • Grind, clean, and prepare surfaces before welding.
  • Use grinders, hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment to complete repairs.
  • Read and follow blueprints, production routers, work orders, and rework instructions.
  • Inspect components before, during, and after rework to verify repairs meet specifications.
  • Notify supervisor or quality department when a component cannot be repaired.
  • Keep nonconforming components identified and separated until inspections are completed.
  • Complete required rework, production, and inspection documentation.
  • Safely position wheels and materials using approved lifting equipment and procedures.
  • Inspect equipment before use and report damage or safety concerns.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Meet production expectations while maintaining safety and quality standards.
