Job summary

SSAB seeks a senior welding specialist to lead welding projects, review specs, and drive advanced welding practices for commercial and branded steel products. You will oversee R&D welding and NDE equipment, interact with operations and technical teams, and contribute to weldability testing and qualification programs.

The role requires strong technical writing, analytical skills, and the ability to train and support welding personnel. Travel and field work may be involved as needed.

Qualifications

• MSc in Welding or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong technical writing and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical capabilities.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead welding projects and develop optimal welding practices.
• Oversee R&D welding, thermal cutting and ultrasonic inspection equipment.
• Review designs for welding requirements and manage weldability testing.
• Provide training and technical direction to staff and students.
• Prepare concise written reports and present technical papers.
