Job summary

Savannah Tank and Equipment Corporation seeks a Fabrication Shop Welding Inspector to assist the Quality Control Manager by visually inspecting welds and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and drawings.

You will perform shop floor inspections on welds (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW), maintain quality records, and witness pressure tests. Strong blueprint reading and attention to detail are essential for success on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 2+ years welding inspection experience.
• Working knowledge of ASME and API codes for tank and pressure vessel fabrication preferred.
• Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics to confirm dimensions.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect welds for GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, or SAW.
• Perform shop floor inspections for dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Coordinate with QC Manager to ensure defects are corrected before testing.
• Maintain material test reports and QC documentation.
• Witness pressure testing to verify leak-free components.
• Assist with pre-shipment inspections and ensure components are properly attached or packaged.
• Record key measurements on QC reports and inspection checklists.
• Overtime as needed.
• Collaborate with shop personnel and outside inspectors to verify compliance.
