How You Can Make An Impact

As a Welding Quality Control Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying welded car bodies to ensure they meet quality standards and comply with engineered drawings, specifications, and industry documentation. You will cooperate with Welding Engineering to support welding processes in production and monitor welding quality. The inspector will perform non-destructive testing and documentation (VT, PT) based on material testing requirements.

Key Functions
  • Perform Hold Point and In-Process Inspections of welded joints.
  • Ensure all inspection documents are properly created, completed, closed, and filed.
  • Coordinate and plan inspections with production team leads and resident inspectors.
  • Maintain and review all quality control inspection documentation.
  • Support production team leaders in recording and resolving non-conformities (BMs) and identifying non-conforming products.
  • Stop production if a non-conformity affecting product quality is detected; perform non-destructive testing as required.
  • Carry out and document the weighing of finished car bodies.
  • Perform and document dimensional inspections of components and final products.
  • Conduct in-process measurements and settings per production schedule.
  • Verify correctness of documentation for in-process dimensional checks.
  • Perform and document visual and dye penetrant testing as per requirements.
  • Use measuring instruments correctly, preserve their condition, and monitor calibration status.
  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations, including OSHA, FTA, and FRA.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 22163, and 15085 standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Basic metallurgy knowledge.
  • Understanding of local and international codes and standards.
  • Print reading and measurement literacy.
  • Non-destructive testing ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
