Job summary

LJ Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Welding Inspection & Quality Control Inspector to ensure all welding activities meet applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.

The ideal candidate will inspect welded components, monitor welding processes, and maintain quality documentation for safe, compliant, and high-quality work. Responsibilities include reviewing procedures, piping and structural welds, and supporting audits and client inspections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
  • Experience in welding inspection or quality control in industrial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Familiarity with welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, ISO).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect welds visually and with inspection methods to ensure specs meet codes and standards.
  • Verify welding procedures, PQRs, and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor welding activities for correct materials, techniques, and parameters.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconformances; track corrective actions.
  • Review material certificates, welding consumables, and traceability docs.
  • Maintain inspection reports, quality records, and daily logs.
  • Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, and quality managers to resolve issues.
  • Support audits and client/regulatory inspections as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and quality management systems.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting welded components, monitoring welding processes, and maintaining quality documentation to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality work.

Essential Job Functions
  • Inspect welds visually and using applicable inspection methods to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards (e.g., AWS, ASME).
  • Verify welding procedures (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor welding activities to ensure correct materials, techniques, and parameters are used.
  • Identify, document, and report nonconformances and defects; follow up on corrective actions.
  • Review material certificates, welding consumables, and traceability documentation.
  • Maintain inspection reports, quality records, and daily logs.
  • Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, and quality managers to resolve quality issues.
  • Support audits, client inspections, and regulatory inspections as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and quality management systems.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
  • Experience in welding inspection or quality control in an industrial, construction, or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Familiarity with welding codes and standards (AWS, ASME, ISO, or equivalent).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
Preferred
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with NDT methods (VT, PT, MT, UT, RT).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001).
  • Computer skills for reporting and documentation.
