How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

Position Title: Weld Process Specialist

  • Covering VT, NH, & ME
  • Frequent regional travel (up to 50% of work time) requiring overnight stays.

The Welding Process Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Welding Processes, Applications, and Economics. This technical sales role focuses on accelerating sales cycles for Welding and Automation by providing engineering solutions, product demonstrations, technical support, and automation advice. The specialist collaborates with Airgas associates, vendors, suppliers, and customers.

  • Grow profitable sales of large capital Welding Processes and Applications to new and existing customers.
  • Provide technical knowledge to match customer needs with suitable products and services, utilizing Airgas sales tools.
  • Initiate customer visits, deliver product and application training, and support robotics and automation needs.
  • Coordinate installation and service of robotic, plasma, laser, and automation projects.
  • Assess customer welding and cutting processes, offering training for optimization.
  • Gather market data on sales, trends, and competitors to inform strategy.
  • Use marketing literature to promote Airgas welding initiatives.
  • Maintain and upgrade technical and sales skills through training and self-study.
  • Complete sales documentation and respond promptly to communications.
  • Operate safely, promote safety culture among colleagues and clients.
  • Perform other duties and participate in special projects as needed.

Are you a MATCH?

  • Associate's Degree in Welding (AAS) or equivalent military training; or a Bachelor's in Engineering with additional welding experience.
  • At least 2 certifications such as CWI, CWS, CWE, or NCCER.
  • Additional certifications like CWEng, CWSR, or NDT levels are desirable.
  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification required.
  • Membership in AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, or ASME is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of technical sales experience and 7 years in the welding industry.
  • Strong relationship management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication skills, ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 60 lbs., valid driver's license, and willingness to visit customer sites.
