Role Overview

Title: Welding Process Engineer (Laser & Resistance)

Location: Weirton, WV

Duration: Full-Time Permanent Role

Role Description
  • Develop, deploy, and refine manufacturing processes for battery cell components and assemblies.
  • Start with experiments and prototypes to define equipment architectures and processes.
  • Develop and mature manufacturing equipment for high-volume production at new facilities.
  • Focus initially on bulk material processing and handling systems.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with mechanical engineering teams to establish safe, scalable assembly processes.
  • Ensure processes can safely produce full-scale battery electrodes and assemblies.
  • Explore relationships between process, structure, and properties of unit operations.
  • Document and improve joining processes for plastics, including welding and heat staking.
  • Train technicians and engineers on new equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate across teams to achieve manufacturing success.
  • Champion safety in equipment and process development.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in manufacturing or pilot line environments.
  • Experience with statistical process development methods.
  • Knowledge of bulk material handling and processing equipment.
  • Design experience for processes involving hazardous locations.
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication skills.
  • Proven track record in innovative engineering.
  • Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with batteries and fabrication is a plus.
