Job summary

Machina Labs in West Chatsworth, CA is seeking a Welding Manufacturing Engineer to design, validate, and continuously improve welding systems and production methods for prototype through full-rate production.

You will collaborate with Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability, process robustness, and AS9100 compliance in a fast-moving, ITAR/EAR-regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Welding Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of manufacturing or welding engineering experience in production environments.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes using sound engineering principles.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D17.1 or comparable welding specifications and standards.
• Experience designing weld tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA, or similar.
• Ability to perform engineering analysis and solve complex manufacturing problems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for cross-functional presentations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize welding processes, tooling, fixtures, and methods for prototype and production.
• Evaluate manufacturability, welding performance, structural integrity, quality, and cost.
• Develop and implement welding processes for complex metallic assemblies.
• Lead the design and qualification of weld tooling and production equipment.
• Create and maintain welding procedures and documentation for quality systems (AS9100).
• Collaborate with Product Design Engineering for Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Review drawings and specs to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
