Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Welding Engineer for the E37 Welding Engineering team. You will manage welding equipment and processes, support welding operations, and program and maintain equipment. An Associate's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience are required.

Travel is 10%–25%, U.S. citizenship is required for this position, and telework is not available. The role supports production, R&D, quality, and regulatory compliance with a focus on welding integrity.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience.
• Equivalents: NNS Apprentice School graduate; Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate; High School/GED plus 2 years related experience; High School/GED plus 4 years non-related experience.
• Excellent communication skills and familiarity with welding processes and quality procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee welding equipment and process improvements.
• Provide support to welding operations to improve quality results.
• Program and maintain welding equipment.
• Identify equipment needs, analyze weld concerns, and recommend solutions to Engineering management.
• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance.
• Provide technical support and training to welders.
• Conduct procedures in Production, R&D, Quality Control/Assurance, and/or Compliance areas.
