Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to perform weld inspections at fabrication shops and field sites in Anchorage, with authority to accept or reject per code and to sign inspection reports for engineers and officials.

You review WPS/PQR, witness weld tests, and direct NDT, while documenting findings and issuing repair instructions. Current CWI with 2+ years’ experience and D1.1 knowledge are required; ICC steel certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting certification preferred (sponsored if not held).
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it for retest.

Responsabilités

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records; witness qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing; write inspection and nonconformance reports.
• Inspect fabrication shops and field erection; sign reports for engineer and building official.
