Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to inspect and sign off on welds per project codes, including AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required. You will review WPS/PQR, witness tests, and sign reports relied on by engineers and building officials.

Pay ranges from $38 to $52 per hour, with gigs that may involve travel and per diem. Work alternates between fabrication shops and field erection sites; some nights and overtime apply depending on project

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI with 2+ years inspecting under it.
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 and at least one of D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104.
• ICC structural steel and bolting special inspector certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspection with accept/reject authority to the governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder performance qualification tests.
• Direct and interpret nondestructive testing.
• Write inspection reports and nonconformance reports for the engineer of record and the building official.
