Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding in Morgantown, WV. You will verify fit-up, review WPS compliance, and perform visual inspection to AWS D1.1.

The role supports the path to the CWI and company sponsorship of the exam. Daily duties include maintaining weld maps and logs, recording weld-to-welder associations, and coordinating NDT (UT, MT, PT) with the NDT technician.

Qualifications

• CAWI certification or eligible for CWI exam
• Reads structural drawings and weld symbols
• Experience in welding/welding inspection
• Able to work at height and in confined spaces

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding
• Perform visual weld inspection under CWI supervision to AWS D1.1, D1.5, or governing code
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition
• Coordinate nondestructive testing (UT, MT, PT) with the NDT technician and record results
