Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding. You will verify fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance, perform visual inspections to AWS D1.1 or governing codes, and maintain weld maps and inspection logs.

You should have CAWI certification or 3+ years welding or inspection experience, be able to read drawings and weld symbols, and work safely at height or in confined spaces on active sites.

Qualifications

• CAWI certification or 3+ years welding or welding inspection experience
• Reads structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR documents
• Able to work at height, in confined spaces, on active steel erection sites

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding
• Perform visual weld inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1, D1.5, or governing code
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition
• Coordinate nondestructive testing (UT, MT, PT) with the NDT technician and record results
